Inemesit WilliamsAssociate Executive Officer

Inemesit “Ine” Williams’ career has spanned science, higher education, and the nonprofit arena, evolving since 2020 to translate complex systemic challenges into actionable, justice-centered strategies. Rooted in Biology, her career began at the intersection of science and education, first serving as a teaching assistant for Organic Chemistry at UC Santa Cruz, then transitioning into biotechnology at the former Chiron Corporation. In 2004, she entered the international education sector, completing her M.A. in Counselor Education at San Jose State University, and applying her STEM expertise to the management and diversification of internationalization initiatives.

As a higher education practitioner, Ine spent almost two decades advocating for the expansion of global STEM opportunities and underrepresented student participation in study abroad. She managed mobility programs, led teams, and drove holistic student advising practices. This hands-on experience included nearly three years abroad, where she served as a long-term Biology substitute teacher in Shanghai and an Academic Coach for expat families. Her ability to organize, strategize, train, and mentor professional peers was key to successfully optimizing and growing global exchange programs at the university level.

Motivated by the urgency of the climate crisis, Ine shifted into the nonprofit sector in 2020, applying her cross-sectoral expertise to climate justice efforts. She was nominated to the global board of the Climate Action Network for International Educators (CANIE), where she co-founded and co-chaired the CANIE Climate Justice Working Group. She continues her commitment to climate education as an advisor and quarterly facilitator of Carbon Literacy Certification programs at In Good Company (IGC), and serves on the Board of Directors for the RISE Travel Institute to advance climate justice and sustainability in the tourism sector. Her background in science and education administration directly informs her approach to equitable climate advocacy, solidified by her formal training and certification as a Climate Reality Leader and Carbon Literacy Facilitator.

As the Associate Executive Officer (AEO) for the American Modeling Teachers Association (AMTA), Ine will utilize her extensive experience to support strategic goals, grow membership, and nurture the AMTA community, collaborating closely with the Executive Officer and Board of Directors. Her work at AMTA will be dedicated to supporting and expanding access, expertise, community, and leadership in modeling instruction for future generations of educators.
